The University of Melbourne

Access Melbourne

There are many reasons to apply through Access Melbourne. It’s important to make sure eligible students know how.
Access Melbourne is the University of Melbourne’s special entry and access scheme for students who may not attain the minimum ATAR for entry into Melbourne degrees in 2012.
To apply via Access Melbourne, students must fall into one of the following categories:

Students who are eligible and meet course prerequisites may be considered for a place even if their ATAR is lower than the minimum ATAR for their selected undergraduate degree.
In addition, all Access Melbourne applicants are automatically considered for one of up to 150 Melbourne Access Scholarships worth  $13,500 over three years of undergraduate study.

How to apply for Music, Visual and Performing Arts degrees

Students submitting an application to the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music or Victorian College of the Arts must complete several steps in order to successfully apply

Both the Bachelor of Fine Arts and the Bachelor of Music require applicants to complete an online VTAC application and the compulsory supplementary form accessed via the MyInfo section of the VTAC website to be able to request an audition or interview.
Applicants for the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Contemporary Music, Dance, Film and TV, Music Theatre, Production, Theatre Practice and Visual Art) at the VCA need to be aware that the program has extra requirements for each specialisation.

Depending on the specialisation, applicants will need to prepare a folio presentation, screen test, audition, interview or group workshop.

Applicants should check audition dates on the VCA website to ensure that they are available during the nominated time period.

The Bachelor of Music offered by the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music requires all applicants to complete an audition that includes three contrasting pieces from the Western classical tradition and a musicianship test. Auditions will be held between 28 November and 9 December 2011 in Melbourne.

Applicants who are unable to attend their audition in person for either program need to visit the VCA website for further information on how to apply via DVD.
