Tax File Numbers

Many students start their first job (and lodge their first tax return) while still studying. This is the easiest way to lodge this tax time.
We’ve prepared the following summary and attached PDF, which the ATO encourage schools to share with students.
Started work? Lodge your tax return withmyTax - it’s easy
MyTax
  • is the fastest way to lodge
  • is easy to access (via tablet, smart phone or computer)
  • already includes some of your personal information (pre-filled from employers, banks, government agencies and more).*
How to lodge
  • Get your tax file number and your birth certificate, passport or citizenship certificate ready.
  • Create a myGov account at my.gov.au
  • Phone the ATO on 13 28 61 and press 5 at the prompt to get your unique linking code.
  • In the myGov Services page, link to the ATO with the unique linking code.
  • Lodge your return through myTax by 31 October.
*Most pre-fill information is available in the last week of July, so it’s easier to wait until then to lodge. Then you only need to review the information, add any missing details and submit.
An e-mail with this information has been sent to school email addresses.

UQ Young Scholars Program

Designed to nurture and develop our future leaders, the UQ Young Scholars Program presents students with an exciting opportunity for academic extension and enrichment and is centred around igniting young change-makers' passions for leadership, academic achievement and community development in today's global society.

The 2015-2016 UQ Young Scholars Program involves:

  • A five-day (four night) Residential Camp at the St Lucia Campus
    (Sunday 29 November - Thursday 3 December, 2015)
  • A YSP Reunion at UQ Open Day (Sunday 7 August, 2016)
  • Online engagement activities and networking through the exclusive YSP Facebook group
  • YSP Newsletters
To ensure diversity in the Program and to allow each student to make their special contribution, UQ will select nominees from a wide range of schools, backgrounds and interest areas. Financial hardship should not be perceived as a barrier to participation. Program fee waivers and travel bursaries are available for students who are able to provide evidence of financial hardship.

The following link will take you to the UQ Young Scholars Program brochure and Application Guidelines.

I would appreciate it if you could pass on this information to Year 11 students who you believe will be strong candidates for the UQ Young Scholars Program.
