Choose Your Own Health Career Website

The Department of Health has now released a new career website to support young Queenslanders who want to work in the health industry. The Choose Your Own Health Career website has been released to support high school students, VET coordinators, Career Advisors, Guidance Officers, and parents. The website aims to highlight the many job opportunities which are available within the health sector which can be achieved with vocational education and training – from entry level roles to more senior roles. The Minister for Health and Ambulance Services, Steven Miles announced the release on Wednesday 21 August 2019.

With health care and social assistance the largest and fastest growing industry in Queensland, this website provides a useful resource to support students wanting to contribute to this industry.

Funded by Queensland Health, and coordinated by CheckUP, a range of experts from the health and community sectors in Queensland have identified the jobs which are currently in high demand in their particular fields, where skills shortages exist, and those jobs where strong growth is predicted in the next 5–10years. The pathways, job profiles and case studies included on the website promote the priority jobs which were identified by these stakeholders.
