UQ - Gatton Tours

UQ's Gatton campus provides tours for school groups with a general interest in the programs and facilities on offer, sightseeing tours highlighting the historically significant campus structures and the Past Students' Museum. It also provides individual tours for students wishing to attend UQ Gatton campus who may not have the opportunity to visit with their school.

These tours occur throughout the year and can be tailored to suit a particular area of interest in Agribusiness, Equine Science, Horticulture and Agronomy, Production Animals, Veterinary Science and Wildlife Science.

UQ School of Economics Schools Day

On Thursday 13 July 2017, the UQ School of Economics and Queensland Economics Teachers’ Association (QETA) will host the QETA UQ Economics Schools Day.

QETA UQ Economics Schools Day gives senior high school students a taste of life as a Bachelor of Economics student. Students will attend engaging lectures from economics academics, chat with current UQ students and enjoy a BBQ lunch.

UQ - 'Experience Science' - interactive workshops for Years 10-12

Experience Science is a free event that provides students in years 10-12 with the opportunity to discover what studying science is like at UQ, and how science is applied in industry and everyday life.

The event is facilitated by experts from UQ through a series of hands-on, interactive science workshops.

All workshops are held at the St Lucia campus and occur on the 7, 13, 14 and 17 July. July 7 is during the school holidays.

Students can register as individuals or as a school group online.

UQ - Women in Engineering Explore Engineering Day - 4 May

Students in Years 10, 11 or 12 are invited to UQ Women In Engineering's WE Explore Engineering Day at the UQ St Lucia campus on Thursday 4 May.

With eight engineering focused workshops to choose from, including Take Flight with Boeing, 3D Manufacturing and Materials of the Future, AYAA Rocket program and many more, students will experience what a career in engineering can be. This free event is sure to inspire students and provide a taste of university life.

UQ - Economics scholarships for Year 12 students

The School of Economics is offering two new scholarships for Year 12 students: the Australian Domestic Students Scholarship (ADSS), and the Year 12 Equity and Diversity Scholarship (EDS).

The ADSS is valued at $5000 p.a. for up to three years of study and closes on 3 November, 2017.

The Year 12 EDS is valued at $5000 p.a. for up to three years of study, and includes professional mentoring for the successful student. The scholarship is designed for students who have a strong interest in economics and have experienced disadvantage during their schooling, impacting upon their OP results. Students who have experienced social or emotional setbacks throughout senior school, or are from Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander or low socio-economic backgrounds are encouraged to apply. The deadline to apply is 28 Novemeber 2017.

Griffith University are developing a growing suite of 1 minute videos for their prospective students and their parents. These videos provide clear and concise information, explained in common everyday language. You can access these videos on the new Griffith Apply website.
The site has information about OP and rank pathways, alternative pathways to university, and costs of university.

ADF residential Indigenous Youth Program at RAAF Base


There is an exciting opportunity for your indigenous students who might be thinking about a career in the Royal Australian Air Force.

The Air Force Diversity & Inclusion team are running a residential Indigenous Youth Program at RAAF Base Townsville from 23rd - 25th May, which includes 2 nights accommodation on base and all meals included.

The only requirement is that successful students will need to be 15yrs or older and to be dropped off and picked up from RAAF Base Townsville by a parent/guardian before and after the Program.  Students from outside the Townsville area are welcome to apply, providing they can meet the requirement to get to Townsville.
