Please check areas of interest as seen on the blog to confirm dates and other information as there will be occasions when dates will change and the information may not be included in the blog as it may not have been received by the school. Posts prior to July 2021 may have reference to different schools as this blog was initially developed for students when I was the Guidance Officer at another school.

College of Theatre Practice

The College is a Registered Training Organisation and can offer a nationally recognised course in the area of technical theatre, the Certificate IV in Live Production, Theatre and Events (Technical Operations) with the specialisation of multi-skilled technician.
This is a short course (1 year or less depending upon enrolment) leading to a nationally recognised qualification with consistent on the job training in a working theatre.
This is the only course of its kind offered in Brisbane; in a theatre venue and environment.
The College has access in the day time to a fully functional theatre, which has a busy program of productions for adults and children.
The course will enable students to be part of stage productions, providing direct work related experiences.
Experienced theatre technicians will be able to apply for recognition of prior learning (RPL). Depending upon their experience if they meet the criteria required of a unit they may be given exemption or partial exemption from that unit. This means for instance that an experienced sound and lighting technician may only need to do a little over half of the course.
