The University of Melbourne is introducing two new IT undergraduate majors in the Bachelor of Science from next year.
The new majors, Computing and Software Systems and Informatics, will offer solid pathways to graduate courses, as well as the option for graduates to pursue their IT careers following their undergraduate course.
Computing and Software Systems
This major is for those with exceptional problem-solving skills and technical expertise in computing who are interested in working within teams on cutting-edge projects.
Students will be exposed to advanced programming techniques and will get a thorough grounding in the systematic processes involved in the software development lifecycle.
Informatics
Informatics is fundamental to modern-day research and industry. Students will develop significant experience in using computers to work with digital information. They will gain competency in programming, and learn about the tools and technologies to solve problems in all types of settings, such as finance and economics, biology, geology, chemistry, engineering, health, communication and social networking.
