Aspiring Teacher Grants and Scholarships

The Department of Education and Training offers a range of scholarships and grants for aspiring and pre-service teachers. As well as financial benefits, these programs provide support during the study period, and some scholarships also provide opportunities to secure employment with the Department of Education and Training.

Aspiring Teacher Grants
Supports high-achieving students commencing a teacher education program at a Queensland Higher Education Institution (HEI). The website is http://education.qld.gov.au/hr/recruitment/teaching/aspiring-teacher-grants.html .

Bid O'Sullivan Teaching Scholarships
Available to assist Year 12 students from rural and remote areas of Queensland who have chosen teaching as their career. The website is http://education.qld.gov.au/staff/development/scholarships/rural/about.html .

Pearl Duncan Teaching Scholarships
Available to assist Queenslanders of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage who have chosen teaching as their career. The Website is http://education.qld.gov.au/staff/development/scholarships/indigenous/about.html

Step Into Teaching Scholarships
Available to high-achieving science and mathematics graduates who are committed to becoming senior Mathematics, Chemistry or Physics teachers in Queensland state high schools. Scholarship recipients receive generous financial study assistance and the opportunity to obtain valuable experience and consolidate their skills through teaching in a supportive, rural, remote or regional environment after graduation.
