Most undergraduate students studying at university are enrolled in Commonwealth Supported Places. These places in the courses are subsidized by the Australian Government.
The Australian Government contributes towards the education of eligible students by funding Commonwealth supported places at universities. If you are eligible, are offered, and then accept, a Commonwealth supported place, you will generally be required to pay ‘student contribution’ amounts to the university.
Eligible students may be able to study now and pay later by using a HECS‐HELP loan to pay their student contribution
Commonwealth supported places are available at all public universities and some approved private higher education providers. The Information for Commonwealth supported students booklet lists all approved higher education providers offering Commonwealth supported places.
