Current priority roles in the Australian Defence Force for North Queensland include:

Receive, process and transmit classified and personnel data in this ICT role, ensuring essential information flows throughout your ship, between vessels, and beyond.

Communicators and Information Systems (CIS) Operators (known in the Navy as Communication and Information Systems Sailors) operate the Navy's telecommunications systems using equipment which spans the communications spectrum. The CIS Operator also performs visual communications and operates and administers a number of Local and Wide area information technology networks used in the fleet. If you are a capable individual who can handle the challenge and responsibility of ensuring essential information flows to enable the Navy to fight and win at sea, a job in the field of telecommunications, visual communications and information technology maybe for you.

Manage the receipt, storage and delivery of equipment and supplies that are vital to Army capability, on base and on deployments, in this important logistics role.

Like the local hardware store, Warehouse Assistants are ‘front-of-house’ suppliers, providing direct support to their unit, the customer. As a Warehouse Assistant (Unit Supply Operator) you'll become a supply specialist, providing stores and equipment to your unit. This could range from weapons and ammunition to stationery and food rations.

Army Reserve – Combat Engineer

Choose a part-time construction role that really takes you places, building roads, bridges, temporary airfields and military defences for exercises and operations.

Sappers are trained in a broad range of tasks including bridge-building, clearing minefields, demolitions, field defences as well as building, road and airfield construction and repair. A Sapper, trained as a Combat Engineer, is a combat soldier with a wide range of trade and technical skills. Combat Engineers can wield a chainsaw, build a bridge, clear a minefield, build a road or airfield and use explosives to demolish a target. The Combat Engineer is a soldier who is a specialist in military field engineering.
