2013 applications open

Lattitude is pleased to advise that applications are now open for their 2013 placements. They have volunteering opportunities in a wide range of countries, including new additions: China and Ghana. Theyare also offering sports coaching placements for the first time, where volunteers will be able to share their own sporting knowledge with local schools and community groups.

As a youth development charity, they are focused on making their placements available to as many young people as possible, and have introduced new scholarship and funding options. These are made up of a range of Lattitude scholarships as well as external grants your students may be eligible for.

If you are interested please visit their website for the latest information.

Lattitude would also like to highlight that there are two application deadlines this year, these are:
  • 27 April for UK Schools Assistant placements
  • 22 June for all other placements.
Other news from Lattitude

Departures and arrivals
Our first groups of volunteers have departed for 2012. The largest group of 49 volunteers departed for the UK on 9 January. They participated in an orientation in cold and snowy London before heading off to their placements throughout the UK. We also had smaller groups of volunteers depart for Malawi, Fiji, Poland, Canada, Vietnam, northern Australia, Vanuatu and India. In total, we have farewelled 132 volunteers in the past few weeks and there will be many more in the coming months.

On 24 January we welcomed 38 international volunteers to Australia. They undertook a three day orientation in Melbourne before heading off to their placements in various parts of the country.
Volunteer voice - Malawi video
This month we share a video from Zoe Millikan who volunteered in Malawi.

Zoe worked as a Teacher in a primary school from January until July last year and has put together some highlights from her time inside and outside the classroom.

This is a wonderful reflection of Zoe's experiences in Malawi. Look out for the cute song and dance that the students sing in English to welcome her and her volunteering partner, and also listen for a Malawian version of the hokey-pokey.
