Youth Off The Streets Scholarships

Youth Off The Streets is a non-denominational community organisation working for young people who are disadvantaged, homeless, drug dependent and or recovering from abuse.  They support these young people as they work to turn their lives around and overcome significant disadvantage and/or immense personal traumas such as neglect, physical, psychological and emotional abuse.

Since opening in 1991, Youth Off The Streets has grown from a single food van delivering meals to young homeless people on the streets of Kings Cross to a major youth specific agency providing a wide range of services offering a full continuum of care. It is their goal that young people accessing their services will leave their care drug free, with a high school education, living skills and a full or part-time job in hand.

Youth Off The Streets invites nominations for the 2011 National Scholarship Program. Nominations close on May 6th 2011 at 5pm. Through their Scholarship Program they will support those young people who show the potential and desire to further their talents, but who without assistance would struggle to move forward.
The Youth Off The Streets Scholarship Program gives young people throughout Australia the opportunity to make their dreams a reality.

Nominations for the Youth Off The Streets Scholarship Program are not restricted to a specific study or training path. Nominations are invited from young people with genuine talent, ability and determination in any field, including (but not limited to): education and training; visual or performing arts; sport; trade skills; and music. The wide-ranging vocational goals pursued by the scholarship recipients will encourage other disadvantaged young people to follow their dreams.

Scholarship funds can be used to pay for educational course fees and also for support costs such as equipment, uniform, textbooks and stationery to ensure that the scholarship recipients have every possible opportunity to reach their goals.

In 2011 Youth Off the Streets are are pleased to announce that over twenty young people from throughout Australia will be provided with scholarships of $5,000 each.

I have a copy of an application form in my office if interested students are unable to download an application form.
