The Australian Dental Association (Queensland Branch) is a Registered Training Organisation and Member Association for Dentists. ADAQ currently delivers Certificate III level courses in Dental Assisting & Certificate IV level courses in Dental Assisting (Radiography) and Oral Health Promotion. They also now offer a four day Explore the Field of Dentistry Workshop aimed at school aged students interested in pursuing a career within the dental sector. The Workshop is designed to ensure that those attracted to a career in dentistry have some understanding of the type of work involved.
The Workshop is conducted in their state of the art purpose built simulation laboratory, dental surgery and auditorium facilities which are situated within our premises. Overall, the workshop is designed to offer students a complete learning experience including preparation of the dental surgery for operation, applying personal protective equipment, basic infection control procedures, reprocessing of instruments, viewing footage of real dental procedures, and employability and resume writing skills. Students are also provided with the opportunity to operate and handle sensitive dental equipment and materials in a safe learning environment.
The workshop is offered annually in the first week of the September school holidays. This year, the program is scheduled from the 23–26 of September 2013 inclusive. If you are interested, the necessary forms and information can be accessed directly from their website at www.adaq.com.au.
