UQ-Link Access is a special UQ admissions scheme which aims to level the playing field for students from low income backgrounds. School-leavers (and gap year students) who are Australian citizens or Australian Permanent Residents (including Permanent Humanitarian Visa holders) are eligible.
Applying for UQ-Link Access in 2012 has now been made simpler! Students just need to complete the ‘Financial Hardship’ category of QTAC’s Educational Access Scheme (EAS) when applying for their tertiary place. UQ-Link Access benefits include:
- five (5) bonus ranks for approved applicants to assist with entry to a UQ program -applicable to all undergraduate programs.
- A start-up bursary of $500 to help fund up-front education costs.
- Consideration for one of 100 UQ-Link Access Scholarships, valued at $3000 per year for up to four years.
Indigenous students who do not meet the financial hardship criteria may still be eligible for special consideration under UQ’s Alternative Entry Scheme.
Online applications for Academic Scholarships open 1 August with a closing date of 31 October 2012. All high achieving students are encouraged to apply. Scholarships range in value from $6,000 for the first year of study to $60,000 over 5 years. In addition to academic achievement, leadership and community service achievements are considered in the selection process.
