Studying@the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA)
The ADFA allows students to study at one of the world's leading universities (UNSW) while undertaking military training. The military training consists of two key components:
- Academic Military Education and Training (AMET): AMET includes Leadership Studies, Drill and Ceremonial, First Aid & Health, Field Craft, Military Law, Physical Training, Weapons Training, etc.
- Single Service Training (SST): Single Service Training is designed and implemented by the Army, Navy and Air Force.
The following diagram details the time that you spend in the ADFA if you are joining different sectors (Air Force, Navy and Army) of the ADF.
As it is a competitive process to apply for the ADFA, which can take up to 12 months to complete, we advise you start your application to the Defence Force at the beginning of year 11.
If you sit the YOU Session test in year 11, you will have time for a second attempt if you failed at the first time.
