Subject selection event
Students can find out which Year 11
and 12 subjects will best prepare them for successful studies at QUT at the Year
10 Subject Selection Evening for STEM careers on Thursday 30 April. The event
includes information sessions, a mini careers fair with current QUT students
and tours of the Science and Engineering Centre.
Parent Information Seminars
Senior high school students and their
parents can find out about making course and career decisions, gaining entry to
QUT, student life, transition, support for students, and study costs and
financial support at QUT's
Parent Information Seminars
on Wednesday 6 May (Gardens Point campus) or Wednesday 20 May (Caboolture
campus).
New teaching laboratories for health
science students
A $28 million refurbishment of Q block
labs at Gardens Point campus has recently been completed. The high-performance
laboratories and clinical simulation facilities integrate new technologies and the
latest industry equipment offering opportunities for advanced practice and
learning for health science students.
QUT Open Day—Sunday 26 July
QUT Open Day is the best opportunity
for students to find the answers to all their questions about courses, careers
and uni life. Students can check the
program and register now for Open Day to win a MacBook Air. We’ve also created a flyer about
Open Day
that you can download to include in your school newsletter, email for students,
or in a PowerPoint slide for classes.
Experience QUT for international
students
International high school students who
are interested in studying at QUT can attend Experience QUT on Thursday 18 June. This fun
event will give students the chance to experience interactive workshops, mock
lectures, tour the Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove campuses and meet our faculty
and admissions staff. Students can register and
attend for a
chance to win an Apple iPad Air 2.
IT and engineering events
Three upcoming events offer students
the chance to explore IT and engineering careers: the Engineering
Link Project
on 8-10 July, BiG Day In on 23 July and QUT Power
of Engineering
on 4 August.
Bridging courses to meet subject
requirements
QUT bridging courses help students who
haven't studied specific subjects at school to meet the assumed knowledge for
QUT courses and may also meet prerequisite requirements for other institutions.
Registrations for the next intake for chemistry and maths B courses close on 17 June and 7 July
respectively. Students can enrol in the physics course any time and complete it
online.
Fashion and visual arts events
Years 9–12 students can attend a free fashion
masterclass
during Term 3, in conjunction with an exhibition showcasing designer tutus from
the Australian Ballet. Career +
Study Pathways
is a series of panel discussions for middle to senior students interested in
pursuing a career in the areas of visual art and fashion, held during July and
August at various venues.
Microscope photography competition
Years 10-12 students are invited to enter the QUT Nikon
Small World Photomicrography Competition
and showcase the beauty and complexity of life through a light microscope.
Students can win a $500 science experience prize pack. Entries are due by 10
July 2015 and a small number of microscopes are available for loan for schools
who might not have suitable equipment.
