Griffith University Engineering - Aptitude for Engineering Assessment Exam Saturday 24 September

Griffith University' has a new initiative to provide regional and rural students with the opportunity to study an undergraduate Engineering degree at Griffith University by sitting the Aptitude for Engineering Assessment (AEA) exam in Cairns on Saturday 24 September. This initiative is part of the Griffith School of Engineering's commitment to provide assistance and support to regional and rural students who wish to make the transition to Brisbane and the Gold to undertake tertiary studies.

Successful students will receive an offer of guaranteed admission into the Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering Technology on either the Nathan or Gold Coast campuses.

Registrations opened Monday 4 July and close on Tuesday 13 September. Applicants can register online at
http://www.acer.edu.au/tests/aea/registrations
Applicants will be informed of their results within six weeks.

The AEA exam offers an alternative entry pathway for current year 12 students, mature age and international applicants to study Engineering at Griffith University, who may not have the prescribed prerequisites and who to provide further information about their aptitude to study Engineering. The AEA is a two and a half hour multiple choice exam assessing a candidate’s aptitude to think scientifically, solve quantitative problems, critically analyse information and display interpersonal understanding.

As part of our commitment to provide opportunities, support and financial assistance to students, Griffith University is extending the exam to Queensland regional locations to provide students with the opportunity to pursue an engineering career. We have been offering the exam since 2008 and have taken over 100 students into a range of engineering disciplines.

The Griffith School of Engineering will also offer the inaugural Queensland Regional Electronic Engineering Bursary to assist with accommodation costs. Two bursaries are being offered to Queensland regional students to provide 18 weeks of accommodation on the Nathan campus for Semester 1, 2012. The bursary may, subject to approval, be transferred to a living allowance.

The bursary is available for Queensland regional students who wish to study at Griffith University in an undergraduate Engineering Program on the Nathan campus in Electronic and Computer Engineering, Microelectronic Engineering, Sustainable Energy Systems or Software Engineering. Applications will open within the next 2 weeks.
