Pitch Your Idea - TEDxJCUCairns

Pitch your idea
TEDxJCUCairns

If you have an idea you're passionate about, here's your change to share it onstage.

TEDxJCUCairns is inviting Alumni to audition for this year's event by giving a three-minute pitch to a live audience.

Over the past four years TEDxJCUCairns has enabled some of FNQ’s best thinkers to share their ideas – first with a live audience, and then the broader online audience.

Last year’s presenters included Molly Steer, who shared her Straw No More message, while Krista Watkins presented her family’s banana power innovations, and Andreas Kupz talked tuberculosis.

“TEDxJCUCairns has showcased brilliant local talent,” organiser Jennifer McHugh said. “This year we want to shake things up a little by hosting a Pitch Night. Come along as a presenter or join the audience. You can meet the TEDx crew, hear from talented local people, and tell us what you’d like to see at TEDxJCUCairns this year.”

“A TEDx talk is a short, live presentation on an idea worth spreading,” Ms McHugh said. “If you have an idea you’re keen to share, please register and come along to Pitch Night. If you’re selected for TEDxJCUCAIRNS we’ll work with you to develop your presentation, so you can share your idea with a live audience, as well as the broader online community.”

TED is a non-profit organization devoted to ‘ideas worth spreading’. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. These are branded TEDx, where x = independently organised TED event.
